Storage Boxes

Many people are constantly trying to find that last bit of space in their house or apartment for extra storage of various items.  Shelves in the closet are stacked almost to the ceiling, the pantry is stacked with boxes five rows deep and the basement is a veritable maze of boxes.  In situations where space is at a premium or you are just looking for that one last vestige of space to complete you home organization, consider underbed containers.

Using udnerbed space is a great tactic for getting a little bit more space out of your home without sacrificing any usable area or cluttering up a spot that is visible to guests.  And, when you actually get down to it, you will notice that there is a much greater amount of space available down there than you probably anticipated.  The fact that you’re not taking up space you would be using for anything else and no one will ever see what you have under there gives you extreme flexibility in regard to what and how you store things under your bed.

Having said that, you should definitely resist the urge to simply start stuffing whatever miscellaneous items you did not want to store elsewhere.  Even though the underbed area is definitely out of sight, it should not be out of mind.  If you are storing anything you plan on ever using again, you should absolutely have a solid organizational approach.  Treat it like any other storage area in your house.  You want things to be logically sorted and easy to get to when need be.  And underbed containers and bins are no longer just flimsy plastic things for your shoes.  As we have addressed in other write-ups, containers for home organization have come a long way in recent years.
